Infrared imaging or thermal imaging catches images of the radiation emitted by objects. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature; therefore, thermography allows one to see variations in temperature. The insulation behind the wall on the image on this page has fallen off.  We have the ability to "see" through this wall and helped the administrator of this building determine that he was paying about $1,000 per year too much in utility bills.

This is like leaving a faucet running for most of the year and incurring the cost.  Unfortunately people can't hear the heat escaping as one would water on a running faucet.

This ceiling image shows the extreme difference in temperatures between spaces with proper insulations and those without.  This one reflects up to a 20 degree difference.  This will make a significant difference in overall temperature in this room or space.
